The garage, Wednesday just before lunch [NFB]

Back in his blacks, Steerpike slipped into the garage and looked over the various vehicles there. He had no idea how the swoop bikes or other things worked, but he had managed to find information on a motorcycle engine. So he went over to the first one of those he found (the one belonging to John Connor), and bent down to do some . . . adjustments.

For one thing, the spark plugs had to go, completely. . . .

Once he was certain that the bike wasn't going to be going anywhere any time soon, and that his tampering would not be immediately obvious, Steerpike stood, dropped the spark plugs into the trash, and left.
